Independence Day and Canada Day Festivities

Friday, July 3
3:00 to 5:00 pm The 23rd Annual Family Sand Sculpture Competition, on the beach between Randall and Ancona Avenues. Click here for more information.

Saturday, July 4
9:00 am Decorated Bicycle Contest
at the Rec Hall. A great event for the kids! Registration begins at 8:00 am inside the Rec Hall. Decorate your bike at home and then bring it to the Rec Hall for the judging. All contest participants may ride in the parade. Prizes will be awarded during the Band Concert following the parade.

9:00 am to 4:00 pm Art Show and Sale sponsored by Saco Bay Artists, Library Lawn.

9:00 am Religious and Cultural Committee Tag Day to support the Canada/USA festival activities. Tags will be sold before and during the parade, as well as at the Band Concert that follows.

9:15 am Ocean Park Band meets at Porter Hall for tuning and warm-up.

10:00 am Fifty-Ninth Annual Independence Day Community Parade. Line of march is open to entrants of all ages (costumes encouraged). The parade, led by the color guard and the Ocean Park Band, forms on Temple Avenue beginning at the Bell Tower. The Marshal of the Parade is Frank Gwalthney. Free popsicles are provided for all young parade participants, courtesy of Gordon and Patti Spence, owners of the Ocean Park Soda Fountain.

10:45 am Concert at The Bell Tower by the Ocean Park Band and awarding of Decorated Bicycle prizes.

5:30 pm Temple Choir rehearsal in the Temple. All those who sing in a choir at home are welcome to join in even if you will be in Ocean Park for only one Sunday. To sing in the choir, please attend the Saturday rehearsal. Call the OPA office at 207-934-9068 for additional information.

7:30 pm Square and Line Dancing on the street in front of Jakeman Hall with caller Ray Hilton.
