SPIRITUAL ENRICHMENT
Worship and Bible Study
For many, the Sunday Morning Service in The Temple is the highlight of the Ocean
Park week. Glorious music provided by the Temple Choir, the Bell Choir and the
Temple Brass, great congregational singing, and thoughtful, inspiring sermons by
guest preachers from a variety of denominations combine to make these services
uniquely moving events. This summer’s series begins on Sunday, June 21 at 10:00 am
and continues each Sunday through September 6.
Parents are invited to make use of the Nursery for pre-school children during the
Temple worship service each Sunday, from 9:45 to 11:15 am. The Nursery is located
in Jordan Hall, where experienced adult supervision is provided.
Sunday School is provided for children in kindergarten through grade six in Jordan
Hall each Sunday from 9:45 to 11:15 am. Children are also welcomed to sit with
their families in Temple worship services. For them Temple Tote Bags are provided
and may be obtained at the main entrance. In the Totes are quiet activities with a
Christian theme.
Several of this summer’s preachers will also offer Morning Watch Bible Studies in Porter Hall, 9:00-10:30 am: William Walsh, July 12 (Gray Fitzgerald, author of The Bible Confronts the Bible, will lead Morning Watch July 13-15); Elaine Hewes, July 19-20; Rock Jones, August 9; Carl Arico, August 16-18 (the Lectio Divina workshop continues August 19 and 20); Caroline Meyers, August 23-25; and Rabbi Hillel Katzir, August 30-September 1. See the Ocean Park Program Booklet for more details.
The Oceanwood Camp at the end of Royal Street offers Celebrate at Oceanwood, a
staff-led musical worship service, every Sunday evening at 7:30 pm in Lawton Lodge. All are welcome -
just follow the music!
Ocean Park originally celebrated vesper worship on the beach and in recent years in
the Grove next to The Temple. This summer Vespers Services will be in the refurbished
Temple Garden and Pergola across the street from the Temple (Porter Hall in event of
rain). There will be three Vespers services, Sunday evenings 5-5:30 on June 29, August
3, and August 31. Service leaders will be announced later in the season.
