Agnes L. Park Recreation Building - The "Rec Hall"
The Agnes L. Park Recreation Building–aka the Rec. Hall–is open every weekday afternoon from 2:00 to 5:00 pm from June 29th through August 21st. The Rec. Hall is equipped with a basketball half court, volleyball, professional size pool table, bumper pool table, foosball, air hockey, ping pong table, board games, a craft corner, music and a snack bar. The Rec. Hall is open to children entering first grade and above; however children younger than 10 must be accompanied by an older sibling or adult. Rec. Hall membership is $60 for the season, $35 per month, $15 per week, or $5 per day. The Rec. Hall is located at Colby Avenue between W. Grand and Clover. To contact the Director, please call 934-1341.
Family Movies ........Jordan Hall. Enjoy a family movie on Mondays at 7:00 pm, July 6 to August 17. On July 6 and August 10 the movies will be preceded by a family BBQ at the Rec Hall at 6 pm.
Dances for youth 13–18 are held in the Rec. Hall on Friday nights during the season starting July 3, 8:00-10:30 pm (except July 24). Admission is $6, $4 for Rec. Hall Members. Last dance of the season is tentatively August 21st.
July 1: "So You Want to Be A Clown" Workshop........... Rec Hall 9:00 to 11:00 am. Make-up, costume, & funny business! Bring yours or use ours! Pre-registration at OPA office is $5; $7 at the door. Leader: "Bessie," aka Lauren Gallagher.
Memorial Library
Story Time is every Thursday, 10:00 am to 10:30 am, June 25 to August 27. Volunteers from the community read stories to children in the children's section of the Memorial Library. Volunteer readers are assigned and coordinated by Jessica Clement. Contact the Library for more information, 934-1853.
Tails to Read is returning—come meet Bosco on July 7 and 21, and August 4 and 21 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Library! Bosco, a 6-year-old chocolate Lab, lives on Ferry Beach in Saco with his owner and best friend,Tony DeBarros. Bosco has a Canine Good Citizen Certificate from the American Kennel Club and is a registered therapy dog with Therapy Dogs Inc. He has lots of listening experience from working with children in Sanford and Old Orchard Beach schools and Libby Library.
Children who are interested in reading need to sign up for a ten-minute slot and prepare a book to read. When it is their turn, they will be reading one-on-one to Bosco with Tony looking on. Sign up can be done at the library or by calling the library at 934-1853.
August 11 from 12:30-2:00 pm Ages 5 to 12: Puppet Making Workshop and Story Telling at Jordan Hal.l Cost: $5.00 per person, max. of $20 per family. Create your own puppet in this unique workshop presented by Nicola McEldowney, professional puppeteer! All materials provided. Then join Nicola for a special story-telling puppet show this evening at 7:00 at Jordan Hall. Pre-register at the Library before August 4th.
August 11 7:00 pm Join Nicola McEldowney for a special evening of story telling through the use of a puppet show! All are welcome! Cost: $5.00 donation (no cost for participants in the 12:30 workshop).
Ecology Adventure Camp

July 27-29: - 9:00 am -12:00 pm. Sponsored by the Ocean Park Educational Bureau and based at the Rec Hall, for ages 6 through 12. This fun and educational camp is run by personnel from the Ecology School and offers children the opportunity to visit and explore, through fun games and activities, the ecology of the pine forest, the salt marsh and the beach . The fee is $20 per day or $60 for the three-day camp. Register in advance with Beth Keene at keene1512@aol.com to receive important participant information. Same day registration is at 8:45 at the Rec Hall.
